OIFF 2023 will take place from August 19 to 26 - what will be shown in Chernivtsi

 

Screenings of the festival's competition and non-competition programs and industry events will take place in Chernivtsi. Screenings of retrospective and special programs will take place in Odesa at the Multiplex cinema (Gagarinn Plaza shopping center).

The opening ceremony of the 14th OIFF will take place at the Ivan Mykolaichuk Cultural and Art Center. The ceremony will be hosted by actress Dariia Trehubova and film critic and OIFF program consultant Alik Shpyliuk. On the opening day of the 14th OIFF, the audience will be presented with the Ukrainian film «Dovbush» directed by Olesia Sanina.

The International European Competition Program includes 7 feature films. In particular, films from such countries as France, Ukraine, Sweden, Norway, Israel, Germany, Latvia, Romania, Poland, and Italy will compete for awards.

The International European Competition Program includes:

- "Homeland", directed by Alexander Mikhalkovich, Hanna Badziaka;

- «Valeria Gets Married», directed by Michal Vinik;

- «Divertissement», directed by Marie-Castille Mention-Shaar;

- «Sisters», directed by Linda Olte;

- «Mammals», directed by Sebastian Mihailescu;

- «Red Sky», directed by Christian Petzold.

The National Competition program includes ten feature films. In particular, feature films and documentaries will compete for awards.

The closing ceremony of the 14th Odesa International Film Festival will take place on August 26 at the Ivan Mykolaichuk Cultural and Art Center. On this day, the winners of the national competition program in the nominations «Best Ukrainian Feature Film» and «Best Ukrainian Feature Documentary» will be announced. The winner of the International European Competition Program – «Best European Feature Film» - will also be announced. The closing film of the festival is «Club Zero» by Austrian director Jessica Gausner, which had its international premiere in the main competition at the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
