Every Sunday in Chernivtsi, a Legend Comes to Life
In the very heart of Chernivtsi, a beautiful story comes to life — wrapped in tenderness, the scent of roses, and the spirit of old Panska Street. The theatrical attraction “The Rose Legend” is a moving wordless performance that transports viewers back to the Austro-Hungarian era, when people were not allowed on Panska Street with dirty shoes, and the cobblestones were washed with soap and swept with roses.
At the center of the story are a young lady, the mayor, and a lovestruck street sweeper. Their silent yet expressive tale unfolds among the architectural gems of Olha Kobylianska Street. Instead of words, the performance speaks through emotional soundscapes — music, gestures, glances, and mood.
The attraction is based on a well-known Chernivtsi legend and the short story “The Rose Street” by Tetyana Hudyma. This atmospheric act brings the legend to life through symbolic imagery and carefully recreated details, reflecting love for the city’s heritage. Visitors to Chernivtsi are not just spectators — they become part of a romantic story that echoes the soul of the old city.
The performance takes place every Sunday at 6:00 PM on Olha Kobylianska Street (near the Street Sweeper monument).
Come and witness a beautiful city legend come to life before your eyes.
