A Legend Comes to Life Every Sunday in Chernivtsi

In the very heart of Chernivtsi, a beautiful story comes to life — one wrapped in tenderness, the scent of roses, and the spirit of the old Pans`ka Street.

The theatrical performance "The Rose Legend" is a touching, wordless mini-play that transports viewers back to the Austro-Hungarian era, a time when passersby weren’t allowed on Pans`ka Street with dirty shoes, and the cobblestones were washed with soap and swept with roses.

At the center of this poetic scene are a young lady, the mayor, and a lovestruck street sweeper. Their silent yet expressive tale unfolds amidst the architectural gems of Olha Kobylianska Street. Words are replaced by an emotional soundtrack — here, music, gestures, glances, and atmosphere speak louder than dialogue.

The performance is based on a well-known local legend and the short story "The Rose Street" by Tetyana Hudyma. Through symbolic imagery and lovingly recreated historical details, this charming event brings the legend to life. Visitors to Chernivtsi are invited not only to witness the performance, but to immerse themselves in its romantic, old-world charm.

When & Where: Every Sunday at 6:00 PM, on Olha Kobylianska Street (near the Street Sweeper monument).

Come and see how a beautiful city legend comes to life — right before your eyes.
