For fans of extreme sports, we offer a tourist route "Underground Chernivtsi". It is almost a 2-hour journey through an underground drainage tunnel. Its length is 1.5 km and depth is 40 m. The tunnel was built in Soviet times to drain groundwater from the central part of the city. It was laid by Kyivmetrobud specialists. The construction then cost almost a million rubles.
The entrance and exit of the tunnel are marked with the letter "M" and connect Nakhimova and HaHarina streets in Chernivtsi. 58 wells were drilled in the tunnel (15 of them are currently operational). Groundwater flows down through the wells, hence the water under the feet, the level of which in some places reaches above the ankle.
You can also see real stalactites, stalagmites and even cave pearls - oolites in the tunnel. The whole transition is safe. It is impossible to get lost, as there are no branches. Before going underground, everyone gets the necessary ammunition - rubber boots, a helmet with a flashlight and a pair of gloves. The constant temperature in the cave is +11 C.
The tour lasts 1-1.5 hours.
