The central square is the heart of Chernivtsi, from which the main streets-arteries of the city diverge. The City Hall is the most magnificent building of the ensemble of the square. The three-story building with a two-story tower, which reaches a height of 50 meters, was built in 1843-1847 by German architect Adolf Marin.
