The Jewish necropolis

The largest surviving Jewish cemetery in Europe. The Jewish necropolis in Chernivtsi is the place of repose of more than 50,000 dead. The cemetery was founded by the decision of the municipality in 1866.

The synagogue of the Sadohur Tzaddik

The complex of Moorish-style buildings always attracts the attention of visitors. This is the residence of the "Miraculous Rabbi", thanks to which the people of Chernivtsi once called Sadhora a "little Jewish Vatican". The shrine was built in the middle of the XIX century.

St. Nicholas Cathedral

St. Nicholas Cathedral is one of the masterpieces of the city’s architecture, which will be remembered for a long time. After all, looking at the incredible shape of the curved domes of the temple, it seems that the building is about to start moving. It is due to the shape of these "twisted" domes that the St. Nicholas Cathedral was called the "Drunk Church". And indeed, if you look at the curves for a long time, there is an illusion of their movement in the direction of the main bath of the church.

Palace
For more than a century, this building has been one of the city's hallmarks, creating its architectural face. The building is made in the Art Nouveau style, which was popular in the architecture of the last century. The Palace in Chernivtsi was built in the last "golden decade" of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and became one of the largest and most refined not only in Western Ukraine, but in the whole empire.

German People's House

On the most fashionable street of Chernivtsi - the former Panska Street -the building of the German People's House attracts the attention of passers-by from afar with its unique and interesting facade. This is one of the few buildings on Panska Street that has not been touched by the hands of rebuilders and due to which it has preserved its original appearance to this day.

CHURCH OF ST. PARASKEVA OF SERBIA

One of the largest Orthodox shrines and the most beautiful religious buildings in Chernivtsi is the Church of St. Paraskeva. Its construction began in 1844. The architectural style of the church is difficult to define. It has features of both classicism and empire. There are also influences of traditional Moldavian architecture. Inside you will find paintings and an iconostasis of the 19th century.

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

The first brick church is the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The temple was built as a part of the large project "Bukovyna" of the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa. The building was built in the so-called Teresian style with elements of classicism.

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Greek Catholic Church of St. Thaddeus became one of the first brick buildings on Ruska Street. The temple was built in 1820-1821. The church was built in the Empire style.
