The basis of the museum's collection is the cult and secular art of Bukovina of the 17th-21st centuries, as well as the original folk and decorative-applied art of the region of the 19th-21st centuries. Icons of the 17th-18th centuries are especially valuable, as well as so-called "home images" made by non-professional masters (which were widespread in Western Ukraine in the 19th and early 20th centuries)

The museum's exposition covers the period from the end of the 18th century to the middle of the 20th century. These are, first of all, documents and materials - photographs, official documents of authorities, societies, administrations of Jewish communities, private letters - found in the funds of public archives and libraries of Ukraine and other countries.

Today the funds of the Chernivtsi Museum of Local Lore number more than 115 thousand exhibits, which have no analogues. This is an original numismatic collection of more than 3,000 coins, a collection of old prints with a unique Ostrog Bible, printed by Ivan Fedorov in 1581, a collection of cold steel and firearms, archaeological finds in Bukovyna.

Chernivtsi open-air museum is a unique architectural and natural complex, where the atmosphere of the old Bukovynian village is recreated, with its traditional culture and way of life.

The museum's funds contain items of the main and auxiliary funds, including violin and piano by Volodymyr Ivasiuk, gifts, furniture, autographs, notes of the composer's songs, letters and drawings. Personal household items, clothes, books, fishing tackle and a wide variety of musical equipment are lovingly preserved.

The museum is located in a small one-story mansion, in the first home of the famous Ukrainian writer Olha Kobylianska. The presented exposition covers the life and work of the writer, her public activities, literary connections.

The museum presents 9 exhibition halls, which are divided into two parts: literary and memorial. On the catwalks of the museum are exhibited household items, furniture, samples of festive Hutsul clothing, which convey the spirit of the era in which Yuri Fedkovych lived and worked.

The collections of the zoological department of the museum are of exceptional scientific, historical and cultural significance. The unique exhibits include almost 19,000 specimens of animals, most of which have been collected since 1872. For example, the skeleton of a 27-meter blue whale, a New Zealand gutter, a helmet-bearing cassowary, the skeleton of an African ostrich, and tropical butterflies were collected in expeditions in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The museum is most proud of old pharmacy furniture - real works of art, which are over 100 years old. Also noteworthy is the 1902 alcoholmeter, a frying pan used to make activated carbon, copper and brass mortars, Austrian barbells, a cocoa grinder, and a pill maker.

The museum has two expositions that will take your breath away from connoisseurs. The first one introduces the visitor to the history of Aviation, the second one - to Space Research. Special attention should be paid to the hall dedicated to the first cosmonaut of independent Ukraine - Leonid Kadenyuk.

The Vernissage Cultural Center, whose exhibition halls are located at 15, Ivan Franko St. and 53, Olga Kobylianskaya St., hosts exhibitions, art projects, theatrical performances, musical evenings and concerts.

The Steinbarg Gallery & Cafe art space creates contemporary art and supports creative youth, and artists have the opportunity to realize their own ideas.
