Taras Shevchenko Central Park of Culture and Recreation
The park was founded in 1830 on the model of Viennese parks thanks to the efforts of district engineer Adolf Marin and city architect Andreas Mikulich on the site of a natural forest by replacing some wild trees with ornamental crops of shrubs and other plantations. Thanks to engineer Adolf Marin, 35,000 bushes and trees were planted here. Originally it was called the "People's Garden". It was planted with unique rare species of trees imported from Europe. For example, in addition to oak and beech, American maple, Amur velvet, oriental, black pine, Caucasian fir, etc. were planted here. A real natural masterpiece here is the Canadian hemlock (there are several such trees in the region), tulip tree, the only weeping beech in Bukovyna, as well as yew, red oak, magnolia Kobus, Ginkgo Biloba and a number of other valuable species ... In April 1875 In honor of the silver wedding of the royal couple "Imperial Oak" planted in the park.
Like 190 years ago, this unique oasis of greenery, coolness and freshness is the favorite vacation spot of Chernivtsi residents and guests of our city. People come to the park to express their love and health, to admire the giant trees and gain strength and wisdom, to feed birds and squirrels and to enjoy the extreme on the rides. Here everyone finds what the soul and heart want - the park welcomes everyone and gives healing energy. On the territory of the park there is a sculpture Heart of Love, a fountain and the square next to it, a summer theater and an attraction complex.
