A jack from the late 18th century, a mammoth tooth and bone fragments, samples of pottery from the Tripolye culture, authentic clothing of the inhabitants of Bukovina, a collection of embroidered shirts, Easter eggs, and agricultural tools. In total, the collections of the Museum of Ethnography and Ancient History of Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovych contain over 3,000 exhibits.

The museum is structurally represented by two exhibitions. The first one showcases archaeological materials.

Particularly, it's interesting to see the mammoth bones displayed, which were found during expeditions.

Also among the local archaeological findings there are a tooth, a fragment of a scapula, and a vertebra of a mammoth (35,000-11,000 BC) from the Dniester district.

The archaeological exhibition also includes flint tools from the Eneolithic period, as well as samples of pottery from the Tripolye culture.

The ethnographic hall of the museum impresses with its variety of exhibits, which hold both scientific and historical value.

There are also works of decorative applied art (including beshagy, Bukovynian and Bessarabian "taistry", which are included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine) and a collection of Easter eggs.

Visitors of the museum can learn about what local residents wore, where they stored their belongings, and what tools they used in daily life. Most of the ethnographic materials reflect the lifestyle and culture of the population of Northern Bukovina and Northern Bessarabia.

Here, you'll find an old weaving loom, stationary and travel trunks, spinning tools, samples of Kosiv ceramics, wooden items, agricultural tools, and household objects from the late 19th to mid-20th century.

Among the unique finds that the museum takes pride in is an antique jack from the Conestoga Wagon Jack company, dated 1796.

Conestoga wagons were highly popular as an innovative mode of transport during the exploration of the American "Wild West." Similar jacks are displayed in leading museums around the world (the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, York County History Center etc.) How such a jack ended up in Ukraine is a question still open for researchers.

The museum's collection, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2025, is continually enriched thanks to the combined efforts of faculty, students, and benefactors.

The museum is located in Building 5 of Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovych (the former Residence of the Metropolitans of Bukovina and Dalmatia).
