Bukovynian waterfalls
Bukovynian Waterfalls is a group of waterfalls located in the Pokutsko-Bukovynskyi Carpathians, within the Vyzhnytsia district, not far from the eastern part of the village of Roztoky (Smuhar village). Bukovynian waterfalls also have another name - Smuhar waterfalls.
The group of waterfalls includes:
• Cowber - located directly on the stream Smuhar; in width is greater than in height, which reaches 3.5 m. Named after the gentleman who built a concrete wall here in Romania to draw water for a water mill.
• Sych - located on the left tributary of the Smuhar stream, 200 m from the confluence of two streams. Vertical waterfall formed by erosion of gray fine-grained sandstones. Height is 10.8 m, width - 1 m, length of water flow - 13 m. There are two versions of the origin of the name: the first is a special hissing of water, the second - the presence of the owls here in the past that scared late travelers at night.
• Lower Huk - located directly on the stream Smuhar. Vertical type, two-stage, upper height 2 m, lower - 5 m, width - 5.8 m. The waterfall cuts through the thickness of the sandstone-siltstone flysch. The name comes from the word "sound", which means sound, noise, rumble.
• Vorota (Gate) - located directly on the stream Smuhar, almost 1 kilometer up from the Lower Huk; height 3.5 m, width - about 2 m.
• Middle Huk - located on the left tributary of the Smuhar stream, which is 250 m upstream from the Vorota. Height 11 m, width varies from 1 to 6 m. The waterfall expands from top to bottom and resembles the silhouette of the bride in a wedding dress. According to legend, the water in the waterfall has healing properties.
• Big Huk - located on the left tributary of the Smuhar stream at a distance of 500 m from the Middle Huk. This is the most beautiful and highest waterfall; its height is about 19 m.
• Verkhniy Huk - the last, seventh waterfall about 7 m high.
The waterfalls were nominated for the title of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Ukraine and according to the results of online voting took ninth place.
