Kamyana Bahachka (Stone rich woman) Rock
Kamyana Bahachka Rock is the most famous rock in Bukovyna, which is one of the 100 natural wonders of Ukraine. A stone building polished by winds and rains, it rises above the right bank of the Putyla River, among the Outer Carpathians, near the picturesque village of Ust-Putyla. Its height is 30 m, and the width at the base is 12 m, with an area of 0.1 ha. This rock is a rare case of weathering and it was formed due to wind erosion of Paleogene sandstones (about 45 million years ago).
It attracts tourists with its severity and majesty, and reminds locals of an ancient legend, according to which in ancient times there was an amazing story. A very rich but greedy and cruel landlady refused a piece of bread to a poor and weak old woman and, deciding to mock the unfortunate woman, threw a stone at her. Surprised by the landlady's anger and cruelty, the beggar angrily said, "I wish you were petrified!" And at the same moment the rich woman turned into a rock, which we see in this place to this day. There are different versions of this legend, but this basis is preserved everywhere.
In general, the rock is located in a picturesque place among the green slopes. The village of Ust-Putyla is also a picturesque place and has an architectural monument of national importance - the wooden church of St. Paraskeva, built in1881.
