Chernivtsi invite you to celebrate the City Day - a bright festival - every year on the first Saturday of October
The first written mention of Chernivtsi in historical documents dates back to October 8, 1408. The city is mentioned in the letter of the Moldovan voivode Alexander the Good in connection with the customs agreement he concluded with Lviv merchants. Chernivtsi traditionally celebrates the anniversary of the first written mention on the first weekend of October.
Events dedicated to the City Day are held in Chernivtsi for two weeks, but the pompous celebration lasts for two weekends. The enchanting action near the Town Hall begins. In addition to solemn greetings, the audience will enjoy incredible theatrical street performances, performances by popular groups and a military band. Also, according to the tradition, the award ceremony "Honorary Citizen of Chernivtsi" is held on the Open Days of the city. This title is awarded to residents of the city who selflessly serve the city community and the state.
Then the holiday unfolds and flourishes in the squares, streets and parks of Chernivtsi. Every resident or guest of our city will be able to find entertainment to their liking. The celebration program includes: various festivals, interesting events, sports competitions and mass games, quizzes, competitions, concerts, workshops and exhibitions.
