The museum started its work in October 2008 in the premises of the former Jewish People's House, built in 1908.
The museum's exposition covers the period from the end of the 18th century to the middle of the 20th century. These are, first of all, documents and materials - photographs, official documents of authorities, societies, administrations of Jewish communities, private letters - found in the funds of public archives and libraries of Ukraine and other countries.
The exhibition also presents books, old prints, clothing items, tools, household items, cult objects, works of art, utensils and more.
In addition to the main exhibition activities, the museum often holds educational seminars, implements cultural and educational projects, organizes thematic exhibitions. The museum offers tours with a permanent exhibition, and visitors can enjoy an audio guide.
